AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Relentless

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Afternoon Rainbow

Writer's Island prompt ~ Questionable
~

The beauty of a rainbow
Is an eternal wonder
~
But when a certain eye
Corners the primal bow
With the cobwebbed
Barbs of a tall
Relentless
Fence
(Right where the pot of gold should be)
Somehow
This beauty is
Questionable
~

The thing about rainbows, they're all illusion - unfortunately.

Gemma,

Rainbow may indeed just works its magic in our fantasies, but nevertheless, 'tis still a symbol of hope. And the rainbow works its magic in reality in that manner, not showing us proof, nor offering us solutions to our every problem ~ it only serves to keep us hoping that there is something good behind all the clouds that darken life and the rainbow is our bridge to that.

But isn't hope everything?

It is.

I wish you well.

Alot of people these days run into that barbed fence while looking for their pot of Gold. Often the Powers That Be don't even bother to erect a fence any longer-they simply offshore the pot of gold somewhere else.
Excellent Poem, and as usual Gemma, I love your photography!
Thank You.
