AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

A Writer?

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A glimpse of a webbed, mazed, inner landscape
~
Write on Wednesday prompt ~ A Writer? Who, me?
~

Lately
I have been mesmerised with
My new digital camera ~
Exploring the possibilities of
Light and shadow
Shapes and forms
Substance and reflection ~
And then
My writing becomes
Allusory glimpses of
Caves
Wells
Skies
Oceans
Built by
Pictures
~
So
Has my writing found
New strengths?
New depths?
New riches?
New vision?
~
I can only say ~
Maybe ~
Deep down
I ask:
Will others connect?
Will others see what I see?
~
Ultimately
I am left with
A rather
Unartistic
Unappealing
Inner landscape
Where some weird road
Warped with reflecting puddles
Wanders nowhere ~
An odd lighthouse
Struggles
Discordantly
In the mist
And the trees ~
Dark trees ~
Drape
Straggley
Blurred
Shapes ~
(Perhaps secreting
A jury of Sirens) ~
Like a multi-dimensional
Hologram
~

I am connecting to what I see on your blog. Often, I find my photography inspires my writing. And I have always believed we write with pictures -- photos or otherwise. Lovely.

Your pictures have only enhanced your talents. I love this shot and find your poetry stunning!

Gemma, I'm so amazed with the creative directions your mind travels with just a simple prompt. I can only aspire to that kind of vision - but your words make me "see what you see" in a very unique way. As Tammy and Jeanie both commented, the words and the images enhance one another.

Beautiful post - thank you for sharing.
