AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

Walk in the Clouds

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ View from Arthurs Seat at Franklin Lookout, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. This is looking south toward Rosebud over Port Phillip Bay.
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Another perspective.
The curving peninsula in the distance includes the beautiful seaside town of Sorrento (where Melbourne really began) and magical Portsea.
Point Nepean is right at the end opposite the end of the Bellarine Peninsula. In between is the entrance to Port Phillip Bay (from Bass Strait) known as The Rip.

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Dromana is right below and you can see in the distance the outline of the Bellarine Peninsula
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ Here is Arthurs Seat Road curling around the mountain. This view is looking north toward Mount Martha. Melbourne is further north round the curve (left in the picture) of the bay.

Mornington is just behind. The whole peninsula has been named after this area.

Mountain wonderland
Wander the sky without wings
That's a miracle
~

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ If you enjoy the sky and love the feeling of being a part of the sky, any of the lookouts on Arthurs Seat mountain are a great place to stand and dream awhile. Sometimes you may be lucky to be on the mountain when it is completely wrapped in cloud.
O what a feeling!

Wow - beautiful sky and clouds! Looking at the sky reminds me that I'm just a speck in the large scheme of things.

Beautiful sky's. I always love watching the clouds, lying on the ground and just watch them flow by :o)

If you sit and be really still, you can gaze out onto the sea, the buildings will disappear and grand sailing vessels will bob restlessly near shore, ready to conquer a land not their own. Pirates from unknown lands will pilage and wreak havoc on a peaceful clan, terrorized by these strangly clad demons, a world is nearly lost...but there is the dreamtime...and it is known...

See what happens when it snows...I lose myself...but what better place than your Mornington Peninsula. I will always dream by the sea...thanks!

Mornington peninsula is one of my favourite places. I also love Appollo Bay where my sister was married by the lighthouse. Perhaps I'll get back there one day.
