WOW...these steps would have me clinging to the rail...bifocals distort bad enough as it is, let alone this path of leaning checker boards...talk about the funhouse effect!

Have a great Sunday friend!

I agree with Sweet Repose. The steps would make me dizzy. But the shadows are lovely.

You could almost play a game of chess on those steps. What a clever shot.

I hope you are safe down there in all that heat.

Love the steps and the shadow. I have black and white tiles on my bathroom floor but alas never any shadows.

Nice shot Gemma! Love the black and white with the shadow! It's funny, I see the date "Feb 8" and it's "Feb 7", a day before my birthday over here! :)

So much interesting and looks like a chess board, huh!

Marvelous shot! How I wish we have sunlight too.

Hope you have a colder weather now. I heard that many places are burning. So be careful & if it's too hot, better turn off all the aircons n fans for a safer way. Always have bottled water handy! §:-)

Njoy your Sunday! Cheers!

Lucky you to have leaves to make shadows. Ah, summer.

BUT actually, I hope the temperature has come down. Melbourne and Adelaide have been in our Canadian news.

The steps look like black and white tile. I had to look closely to figure out those were shadows. Nice catch!

Wishing you cool breezes and sane temperatures.

Wonderful shadows on your cool checkerboard style stairs! Yes, you could enjoy a game of chess on the steps while waiting for the laundry :)

We missed you last week Gemma, glad you're back this week. Try to keep cool in the crazy heat. The weather is really quite mad here in Oz at the moment. Scary mad! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday :)

I thought the steps were painted, too.

Very strong shadows.

I love how the shadows create a checkerboard pattern on the steps. Superb photo.

Cool shadows! At first I thought I was looking at a tiled floor.

Lovely. I love the shadows on the steps. It took me a minute to get past thinking "how unusual to have patterned steps" to realizing that I was looking at a wonderful shadow pattern.

Wow..I'd get dizzy going down those stairs.

Reminds me of lovely black and white tiles throughout my parents kitchen and mud room. Pleasant memories.

Have a nice week.

Wow those stairs are making me dizzy. Not a good time to walk down them with the checker shadows. An amazing shot!

I would have sworn this was tile when I first saw it. The illusion is very good! Happy SSS!

Wow ... what a WONDERFUL capture! I had to look closely to realize these were shadows rather than tiles. Very nifty. I played too on Sunday at Happily Retired Gal.
Hugs and blessings,
