Like a Painted Ship with Wings

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ One variety of rosella that visits our world in the Dromana Hills, Mornington Peninsula.
It is quite rare that these "jittery" birds land on our verandah railing as happened on this particular day.
For once, I happened to have my camera.

I'm such a bird girl, would love to own a parrot, but I have too much scent going on in my house all the time with the making of candles and soaps, they say it's not good for them, plus in the winter I have to keep the heat so low to be able to afford it, the poor thing would be a popsicle on a perch...like me!

Have a great week friend! Some day I'll have the time to sit and sketch one of you're feathered friends for you...when the snows fly perhaps!

That's a beauty...and he looks quite friendly too. I wonder what sounds he makes. We don't see any colorful birds like that around here; only loud bluejays!

I have never seen that rare specie yet! That is the beauty of this country because the Nature and its habitats are coming to us, right in our own vicinity!

Good to have the cam handy so when an opportunity arise, you will not miss anything. Clever Gemma!

You are so lucky to have these beautiful rosellas flying around your yard and landing so you can snap a photo. Its wonderful to see them flying free in their native habitat and not in a cage...

Glad you had your camera ready, and what a wonderful picture you took of the rosella!!
Happy RT!

How unusual. The bright colors on his head against the plainer body almost remind me of a ship's figurehead, perhaps your title put me in mind of it.
