Nature is Confused?

Pic by Gemma Wiseman ~ A red leaf is not so unusual for Autumn.
But this is summer on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia.
The top temperature today was 18 degrees C.
It was cold and mostly windy and rainy - for the second day running.
Now, it is nearly midnight and the temperature is 12 degrees C.
(It was reported on the news that snow fell on the Victorian Alps today!)
And that red leaf is one of three strongly red leaves on a plant laden with green leaves and green pea-like clusters.
I have no idea what this plant is, but it is slowly growing like a tree.
And did I happen to mention that this is summer?

I remember spotting some red leaves on a tree in the middle of summer here. I guess the plants respond at different times.

Stay warm! It is a beautiful red leaf.

Gemma, I wish we had any leaves, green OR red! Ha! Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)

I agree with the out of season leaf. Yet, even in the warm weather, the normal sea of green ought to be challenged by the slightest of rubies. A fine capture because green shouldn't be the only color of nature...

That's a pretty red leaf. A renegade leaf!

I never heard of the Victorian Alps. I learned something new.

The extraordinary is catching our eye.
I seem to spot a glimpse of unripe, green berries as well.
Enjoy your summer. 18 + C , oh, I can only dream.

We have warm temperatures and the forecast for Thurs is another 40 degrees. Wow, I haven't visited Victorian Alps but i would love to visit this time for a change ..hehehe

Hi Gemma, it looks very attractive the odd red leaf between the green ones. We have a similar tree here, perhaps the same, I am not sure of its name and try to find out.

It is the global warming that make them red long before time! MB

Curious - but it makes a striking picture.

Who knows with Mother Nature - she's both beautiful and terrifying in her ability to be unpredictable.

Doesn't the red seem even redder backed by the green!
