AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes

AUSTRALIA ~ The Antipodes
I love a sunburnt country / A land of sweeping plains / Of ragged mountain ranges / Of droughts and flooding rains / I love her far horizons / I love her jewel-sea / Her beauty and her terror / The wide brown land for me / ~ Dorothea Mackellar (1885-1968)

I am trying triolet!
~

When Autumn sings her sad sweet song
When wind-swept colours dance their tunes
I wonder where my joys belong
When Autumn sings her sad sweet song
My summer soul craves to prolong
But latent dreams must cast their runes
When Autumn sings her sad sweet song
When wind-swept colours dance their tunes

Autumn - what's that? :)
Here in Finland we're waiting rest of the snow to melt.....

Nice triolet! Love the sound of the alliteration and the connecting of latent and runes adds a layer of great depth.

Sheer perfection..in every iamb a color of autumn and a change in the air. It dances like leaves and sings in the wind. Beautiful.

O.K....now i need to research triolet. You are always teaching me something new. Love the idea that we are just entering spring - barely - and you are in autumn. Love the colors of the leaves in this shot. They are so light and airy looking...no harshness at all. So pretty.

Like Brian Miller, I too prefer autumn to any other season in the year. I love the shades of gold, brown, bronze, reds & the cripsness in the air.
Great imagery for the poem. Thanks for sharing.

Gemma,

Very beautiful words, to accompany that lovely image.
I must admit, that here in England, I am enjoying spring and looking forward to summer!
