Palm Shadows

Palm tree shadow on the wall of shops in the main street of Dromana.
This area is the coastal hub of eating delights overlooking Dromana beach.
It is a crammed spot in the summer months.

Just a lone palm tree
Jostling for identity
In a shop lined street

Patagonia Torquay

I saw this sign on a car window and wondered what it all meant.
When I Googled the website of Patagonia Torquay I was more intrigued.
The business sells products that are environmentally friendly.
The wild world we love is fast disappearing. At Patagonia, we think that business can inspire solutions to the environmental crisis. This means that what we make and how we make it must cause the least harm to the environment. We evaluate raw materials, invest in innovative technologies, and rigorously police our waste.
And their origins were especially fascinating.
In 1973 Patagonia established itself out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Reaching the shores of Torquay in 2008, our values here in Australia reflect those of a business started by a band of climbers but now focus on our national past time of surfing, and the minimalist style that lifestyle promotes. The approach we take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility. For us at Patagonia, a love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them, and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of our planet. We donate our time, services and at least 1% of our sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide.
The business is part of a Conservation Alliance founded in 1989.

And the fish in the sign?
Torquay is on the southern Victorian coastline - by the sea.
And the business sells fly fishing and surf products too.

Yellow Takes a Stand

Many local businesses were represented at the recent Rosebud Kite Festival on the foreshore of Rosebud beach, Port Phillip Bay.
This one was parked right near Rosebud pier.

Hamper Yourself

This business used to be on the Nepean Highway opposite Dromana beach.
Now it has moved to a small group of shops further back from the main street.
The name is now Gourmet Emporium, specialising in hampers filled with the produce and wines of the Mornington Peninsula.
The above photo is of the original sign.

Try some temptations
Hamper yourself with delights
Your heart will thank you

Beauty of Power Lines?

The much maligned power lines - destroyers of scenic beauty!
Is there a possibility that they may be beautiful as a focus of a photo?
These power lines are at Bittern.
And I thought they cast some rather artistic shadows.

Look for Trains...

Sign displayed at Bittern railway crossing.
The line is not a heavy track.
It is a sideline from Frankston for the eastern Mornington Peninsula area, with just a few stations ending at Stony Point.
Even though the old steam engine has been gone awhile now, replaced by 2 electric carriages, the sign lives on.
I hope it lingers for awhile yet.

Scenic Hoop?

At first, this looks like an ordinary hoop for shooting balls.
But I have never seen one that allows the leafy view of the setting to be seen through the backboard - or such a huge backboard for that matter!
I just wondered why it was so close to the gutter of the carport roofline!
The photo was taken at the village of Bittern on the Mornington Peninsula.
